Community & Space:

Connect the dots

As a Design Sprint project, tested ideas to encourage sharing and caring community in student accommodations, in the hope that one initial voluntary participation could possibly foster collective change naturally.

October 2019

Group work with four other GSA students

We hoped voluntary participation can be distributed across students and accommodation naturally through a rule-guided activity.

The upcoming students can see the board of the previous year and follow the activity as the same way as the past students did. This social meaning can be learnt as they experience the lived-in environment.

Prototype & Test

Put into practice
We implemented the proposal in an accommodation, and found out it practically worked in reality.

This case can be evidence of the mutual understanding, also underpinned by the idea, 'behaviour is not rule-governed but rule-guided.' (Silverman, 2004, p.353).
